Overview

Konami (コナミ, Konami) is one of the long-established Japanese game developers. From the early days, they had a reputation for music.

MSX users are familiar with the fact that the company was producing software for it until the end of its life.

Although the retro game generation has an image of the company's headquarters being located on Port Island in Kobe, the Tokyo headquarters was established in 1992, and the company moved completely to the Tokyo headquarters in 1999. Before moving its headquarters to Kobe, the company was headquartered in Toyonaka, Osaka Prefecture where they ran a jukebox rental and repair business.

The company was founded in March 21, 1969 as Konami Industry Co., Ltd (コナミ工業株式会社, Konami Kōgyō Kabushiki Gaisha) and changed its name to Konami Corporation as it's legal English name in 2000.

The company used a blue logo when it was first established, but in 1986. It introduced a red and orange wave logo, which was used for a long time until 2003, after the italicized "KONAMI" was partially changed in 1998.

The sound logo for the commercials was done by Chris Chris Peppler. In April 2003, the 30th anniversary of the company's establishment, the logo was changed to the current Konami Red.
