Overview

Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (パンティ&ストッキングwithガーターベルト) is an original anime series produced by GAINAX.

It was broadcast and streamed from October to December 2010 on BS Nippon TV (BS Nittele), various UHF stations and on Nico Nico Douga.

There were 13 instalments, 28 episodes in total.

Animation about two sister angels who land in Daten City.

Director Hiroyuki Imaishi and many other staff from Gurren Lagann were involved.

Basically consists of two episodes per episode (30 minutes).

This work is characterised by its cartoon-style drawings, which are deformed to a pop-style.

However, only at key points does it change to a finely detailed drawing.

Also, the explosion scenes are completely live-action.

Various experimental techniques are used in some episodes.

The style is cute, vulgar and very poisonous, perhaps with an awareness of American cartoon animation.

The script is close to the limits of the broadcast code, and obscenities are accompanied by corrective sounds.

Despite this content, the voice acting is gorgeous, even in the minor roles.

All episode subtitles are parodies of existing films. No matter whether overseas or Japanese.

A comic adaptation by TAGRO was serialised in Young Ace from the September 2010 to July 2011 issues.

A comic adaptation by director Hiroyuki Imaishi was also serialised in Monthly Anime Style and published in book form as a bonus in an art book.
