Summary

The GT-R is one of Japan's iconic sports cars, especially the second generation GT-R cars.

Models

First Generation (1969-1972)

Model PGC10 (1969-1970) and KPGC10 (1970-1972)

ハコスカGT-R

The very first Skyline GT-R. It was released on February 4, 1969. internal designation code is PGC10. The popular name of this car is "Hakosuka."

The car, since its debut, had won 50 race matches.

Although introduced with only a 4-door sedan model, Nissan later introduced a 2-door coupe model in 1970.

The price of this model was ¥1.5 million (U.S.$4,166), more expensive than a Skyline GT, which was priced at ¥800,000 (U.S.$2,222).

A total of 832 PGC10 and 1,197 KPGC10 Skyline GT-Rs were produced.

Model KPGC110 (1973)

ケンとメリーのスカイラインGTR。

Released in 1973, it is a 2-doors coupe model based on the C110 model of Skyline. It equipped the same S20 Engine as the previous models. It was known as the "Ken & Mary" Skyline (after the characters who appeared in its TV commercials).

However, the car is 45 kg (99 lbs.) heavier, the fuel tank capacity is half of that of previous GT-Rs.

Unlike the previous models, it uses the disc brakes on the rear wheel as opposed to drum brakes.

Unfortunately, its production run ended prematurely due to not being able to meet vehicle emission regulation requirements in Japan. As a result, only 197 units of this model were produced, with 2 of them being test race cars.

Second Generation (1989-2002)

Model BNR32 (1989-1994)

人に翼を。

The BNR32 Skyline GT-R was introduced in 1989 along with the R32 Skyline.

The R32, due to it using the latest automobile technologies, was famously known for winning touring-car races around the globe. It won all matches of the Japan Touring Car Championship before it was banned for racing.

It was the first Skyline GT-R model to be using the all-wheel-drive system.

The R32 GT-R also had V-specs and V-specs III models.

The total number of units produced for this model is 43,934.

Model BCNR33 (1995-1998)

BCNR33

The BCNR33 Skyline GT-R was released on 1995 with a base model and a V-specs model.

The V-specs model is equipped with improved ECU, ATTESA E-TS PRO all-wheel-drive system and Adaptive LSD.

However, the car's size is wider and heavier than the last model, and most people think it is a failed model in the Skyline GT-R sports cars.

As a result, only 16,422 units of this car model were produced.

The car was used in the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. It also sold overseas in limited units.

A 4-door sedan model was also introduced. It was the first Skyline GT-R model to be available in 4-door sedan since the KPGC10 Skyline GT-R.

Model BNR34 (1999-2002)

ルカ姉の「一緒にドライブ」

The BNR34 Skyline GT-R was released in 1999. It was the last GT-R car model to be using the Skyline naming.

The car's size is smaller compared to the R33, and the aerodynamics of the car's body is improved. The gearbox was change from 5-speed manual to 6-speed manual.

It is also equipped with a multi-function display to show readings of engine and vehicle statistics.

Later Nissan introduced the V-Specs II model and the M-Specs model.

Unfortunately, its production run ended in 2002 as it didn't meet vehicle emission regulation requirements in Japan. Near the end of the production run, Nissan introduced two more models: the V-Specs II Nür and N-Specs Nür models.

A total of 12,175 of this model were produced, which is not too different from R33's production figures.

Thrid Generation (2007~)

Model R35 (2007~)

あーるさんご

In 2007, Nissan released the R35 GT-R sports car. It no longer uses the Skyline naming, as it is only called 'Nissan GT-R.'

It has a VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. The first model year only has 480 PS (473 h.p.) of engine power, but with the 2014 model year it was increased to 550 PS (543).

Every piece of chassis is specifically designated for this model.

In Japan, in order to stop illegal customization of the car, Nissan has stated that if the GT-Rs were customized, then the warranty is voided and cannot be maintains through Nissan's High Performance Center because of it.
