Abstract art (抽象美術, chūshō bijutsu) is a form of modern art that does not reflect an accurate depiction of reality or puts it in an unrecognizable state. Note that in Japanese the terms abstract painting (抽象絵画) and abstract picture (抽象画) is what abstract art is called.
